HONEST SONNET# 15 Bacon’s war against aging

This Honest Sonnet will be different. Analyzing Sonnet 15 means I have been blogging for about 15 weeks. I have learned a lot and a have a lot to go. The Sonnets are truly enjoyable when I take the time to take a close look – plus I read ALL the available information about the author because background is vital. Otherwise the sonnets will stay out of reach for you forever. Even if you are a Satratfordian or Oxfordian though you generally ignore reality you can have fun forming your personal view of the sonnets. I am finding out that the poet is a down to earth, practical and determined kind of guy.

Shakespeare by Bacon by Larson # 15

WHEN I CONSIDER THIS LIFE

THERE ARE MOMENTS OF PERFECTION TO CONSIDER

BUT THIS HUGE PLAY DOESN’T SHOW ALL THAT GOES ON IN LIFE’S BACK STAGE

WHILE NATURES FATE WORKS IN SECRET UNDER THE RADAR

SO PEOPLE REMIND ME OF PLANTS

WE LOVE PLANTS AND STOMP ON THEM EVERY DAY

BUT LIKE PLANTS WE HUMANS GROW BACK

SO WE REST ON OUR LAURELS AS LONG AS POSSIBLE

DEPENDING ON EXCESSIVE PRIDE IN UNCERTAIN LIFE

WHILE TIME AND AGE DEBATE AND CONSPIRE

TO DRAG ME DOWN

BUT I LOVE MY LIFE AND HAVE DECLARED ALL OUT WAR AGAINST GROWING OLD.

IF FATHER TIME GETS ME I WILL GET ME BACK

the original SONNET 15

When I consider every thing that grows
Holds in perfection but a little moment,
That this huge stage presenteth nought but shows
Whereon the stars in secret influence comment;
When I perceive that men as plants increase,
Cheered and cheque’d even by the self-same sky,
Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease,
And wear their brave state out of memory;
Then the conceit of this inconstant stay
Sets you most rich in youth before my sight,
Where wasteful Time debateth with Decay,
To change your day of youth to sullied night;
And all in war with Time for love of you,
As he takes from you, I engraft you new.
